Alex Ovechkin Out Saturday vs. Flyers

Well, this is not what weekly fantasy league participants want to hear on the last night of their finals. Those going for a championship will have to do so without Alex Ovechkin. The Capitals’ sniper will miss his third straight and seventh in eight games on Saturday night when Washington plays the second-last game of their regular season hosting the Philadelphia Flyers.

Ovechkin gave Capitals’ fans, and fantasy owners hope when he returned on Monday against the Rangers after missing four games with the same injury. Unfortunately, the captain played just 39 seconds before leaving the game, and it’s looking more and more like Washington will be patient and wait until the playoffs start to get Ovi back in the lineup.

The Great Eight was able to participate in Saturday morning’s optional skate, which is a good sign because he hadn’t been on the ice since leaving Monday’s game. Ovechkin leads the Capitals with 24 goals and is a huge part of the NHL’s second-ranked offense.

Washington is -180 on the moneyline at the FanDuel Sportsbook and +136 to cover the -1.5 goal puck line over Philadelphia tonight.
