Brandon Crawford Scratched from Second Game of Doubleheader

Brandon Crawford is getting the rest of the night off. The San Francisco Giants submitted their lineup for the second game of a doubleheader with Mauricio Dubon starting at shortstop.

Crawford has appeared in 54 games for the Giants this season and is slugging .551 with a .351 on-base percentage, although he went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in the first game against the Washington Nationals today. Dubon sat in the first game today and last appeared on June 9 against the Texas Rangers. Dubon hasn’t come anywhere close to replacing Crawford’s production, slugging .366 in 55 games this season. However, the Giants still have Dubon batting sixth in tonight’s contest.

The Nationals won the first game earlier today, shutting out the Giants 2-0 in the abbreviated encounter. This afternoon’s victory was just the Nats’ second victory over their last six games.

The Giants are sending Conner Menez to the mound, while the Nats are countering with Jefry Rodriguez. FanDuel Sportsbook has the Giants installed as -120 favorites in the seven-inning game, with the total set at 6.5 with the over juiced to -124.
