Jace Sternberger Suspended Two Games

Sternberger is not a household name, but he did catch the first 12 passes of his career last season. He finished with 12 grabs for 114 yards and one touchdown in his sophomore season after failing to catch a single ball during his rookie season.

That said, Sternberger is not expected to take much of a step forward this season. He’s playing behind Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis at the position, and Tonyan had a breakout in 2020-21. He finished with 11 receiving touchdowns, which was tied with Travis Kelce for the most at the tight end position.

Now, Sternberger has another obstacle working against him. He will miss the first two games of the season after violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. That’s going to make him irrelevant in even the deepest fantasy leagues.

Of course, all of the Packers’ pass-catchers will struggle if Aaron Rodgers is not under center. The most recent reports indicate the Rodgers is “solid” on his decision to never play for the team again, and the downgrade from Rodgers to Jordan Love would be massive. A Rodgers trade is definitely still possible, and the Broncos remain the favorites in that situation. You can bet on their Week 1 starter on FanDuel Sportsbook, and you can get Rodgers (and any other QB who isn’t currently on the roster) at +220.
