Dallas Stars vs. Chicago Blackhawks News, Analysis, and Picks

The Dallas Stars have to find a way to shake off the hangover of being eliminated from the playoffs last night against a team that has had a while to get over that disappointment.

Chicago will finish their up and down campaign by closing out the season series, which is at 2-2-2 with a pair of home games against Dallas.

The Blackhawks have been playing for pride for a while now outside of the playoff picture but come in fresh off snapping a six-game losing streak.

Chicago beat Central Division champions Carolina, on Thursday thanks to Alex DeBrincat’s team-leading 29th of the season coming in overtime.

Collin Delia made 36 saves to get his first victory of the season and has played in Chicago’s past three games, so expect him to get the call on Sunday.

The Stars have to get over watching Nashville dash their playoff hopes on a Saturday night they didn’t even take the ice. Carolina dropped a 5-1 decision to the Preds to allow them to clinch the fourth and final playoff berth in the Central while Dallas probably watched from a Chicago hotel.

Dallas snapped a losing streak of their own on Friday with a 5-2 win over the Lightning to keep their postseason dreams alive for at least one more day. Joe Pavelski led the way with two goals and a pair of assists and leads the Stars with 24 goals and 50 points on the season.

Before that, the Stars dropped five straight, including a back-breaking overtime loss to Nashville.

Dallas has dropped four of six to Chicago this season, and they’ve gone over in four straight meetings. Those four overs were also games decided by multiple goals.

The Picks: Blackhawks moneyline (+136), Total Over 5.5 (-128), Patrick Kane Over 0.5 Assists (-166)

Ottawa Senators vs. Calgary Flames News, Analysis, and Picks

The Ottawa Senators are making a late-season push despite being out of playoff contention for pretty much the entire year.

A night after they passed the Flames in the North Division standings, Ottawa can extend that lead for fifth place to four points over Calgary with a regulation win.

The Senators won their third straight with a 4-2 win in Winnipeg last night to break a 47 point tie with their Sunday opponent. 2020’s third overall pick, Tim Stutzle, led the way with his first career hat-trick. The 19-year-old became the youngest player in Sens history to turn the trick and has 12 goals and 29 points in 51 games this season.

Ottawa is the hottest team in hockey right now, with an 8-1-1 mark in their past ten. A far cry from their season’s start when they needed 24 games to pick up their eighth W.

The Sens will try for their fifth straight victory over the Flames and put an end to Calgary’s slim playoff hopes.

Calgary, somehow, is still alive in the North. The Flames need to win their final five games in regulation, four of which come against Vancouver, and have Montreal lose their remaining two games to Edmonton in 60 minutes.

The Flames have dropped two straight, including a 4-0 shutout to Winnipeg on Wednesday. Calgary fired 32 shots on the Jets but couldn’t solve Connor Hellebuyck, while Jacob Markstrom made just 15 stops on 19 shots in the loss. The Flames have struggled to score goals this season, ranking 28th in the league on offense.

The Picks: Senators Cover +1.5 (-142), Total Over 5.5 (-128), Brady Tkachuk Over 0.5 Points (-114)
