Tim Anderson Placed on 10-Day IL

Anderson has blossomed into one of the best shortstops in baseball, and the White Sox will be without his services for at least the next week. He suffered a hamstring injury on Sunday vs. the Angels, and he’s been out of the lineup ever since. He hasn’t recovered well enough over the past few days, so the White Sox have decided to place him on the 10-day IL. The move will be backdated to Monday, so the earliest he will be able to return to the active roster is next Thursday. Danny Mendick will take his spot on the active roster, but Leury Garcia has started at shortstop each of the past two days.

This is the second injury for the White Sox early in the season. Outfielder Eloy Jimenez suffered a torn left pectoral muscle while attempting to rob a home run during Spring Training, which will keep him sidelined for around 5-6 months. The White Sox have plenty of offensive firepower, but losing two players like Anderson and Jimenez is tough for any team to overcome.

The White Sox are taking on the Mariners at 4:11 p.m. ET on Wednesday, and they’re listed as -146 favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook.
